Halloweek is here! For us, that means a SPOOK-tacular, FANG-tastic week of fun at the studio! From fun costumes, Hip Hop Halloween combos and bonding time with our faculty to a Boo-rific photo backdrop, THRILLING dance games and lots of treats, Halloweek is one of our favorite weeks of the year!

Here are our Top 10 SPOOK-tacular Halloweek Ideas for Dance!

10: Create a Boo-rific Backdrop in your studio! Your dancers will love to pose and snap pics with their dance besties in their fun costumes in front of your Halloween wall!We used scrapbook paper, poster board and lots of stickers, and we came up with some silly Halloween puns and put them on our poster board ghosts! Create your very own hashtag for Halloweek and encourage dancers use the hashtag when they post pics in front of this fun backdrop! For a little extra incentive, enter each post into a drawing for a THRILLING prize, which could be a tuition credit, a gift card to your studio boutique or even a sweet Halloween treat!

9: Find time to bond with your faculty (even if it is just an hour or two)! Last year, we hosted this simple Fabulous Faculty Fall Fun Fest and Pumpkin Pizzazz! event for our staff and it was so much fun! And, we ended up with some super cute decor for the studio!

8: Spruce up your studio with festive fall decor! Check out our ConfettiMOOD: SPOOKY blog post and Pinterest Board for fun ideas (and see #9 & #10 above)! In addition to our Boo-rific Backdrop, we also bought some fun decorations at Party City and Hobby Lobby to decorate our dance rooms! Bonus: This is a great way to create the perfect setting for filming your kids performing our #Halloweekonthedancefloor combo!

7: Play some fun Halloweek dance games in class! Need ideas? We offer lots of fun suggestions (like a haunted obstacle course!) in this blog post: Let the SPOOK-tacular Halloweek Games Begin!

6: Use our SPOOKY Spotify Playlist in class all Halloweek long! You’ll find both ghoulish grooves and batty tunes in this fun mix!

5: Treats for everyone during Halloweek! Of course, candy treats are pretty much obligatory! But, also make sure you have some options for those dancers with dietary restrictions like fun stickers, spider rings and more. Check out the free resources from the Teal Pumpkin Project for fun FREE ideas, coloring sheets and more. This organization is raising awareness of food allergies and promoting inclusion of all trick-or-treaters throughout the Halloween season. You can also find some fun, food-free prizes at Oriental Trading.

4: Play some scary funny tricks on your staff, Ellen style (and prepare to laugh really hard if you click that link!) Warning: Don’t try these tricks during dance class…it could traumatize the kids and lead to non-kid-friendly language. But, the staff room…that’s carte blanche!

3: For preschool classes, check out these three kids’ books. Our fave is Vampirina Ballerina! Read the book to your young dancers and create a fun activity around the characters.

2: Pick one day for your entire faculty to dress in the theme of your year-end show! This is one of our fave events of Halloweek, and we can promise that your dancers will love it! And, it generates excitement for your year-end show. Win-win! We also LOVE this Halloween costume generator from Different Drummer Dance! Our faculty will be doing this one day as well, and we can’t wait to share the pics of Glam Bruno Mars, Happy Line Dancer, Slick Ballerina and more!!

And, our TOP idea for SPOOK-tacular fun this Halloweek is…

1: Teach your classes our NEW Hip Hop Halloween combo and video them performing it (if they are wearing costumes, even better)! You can just use your phone, no need to get all techy! Then, post your video(s) on Instagram using our hashtag: #halloweekonthedancefloor and you could win a SPOOK-tacular Confetti prize! For even more fun, you can also teach our combo from last Halloweek!

Hope your Halloweek is a Skele-ton of fun!!
