Happy Valentine’s/GALentine’s/PALentine’s Day!

February: It’s the official month of love and hearts and sugar-coated candy. And to that we say, “SWEET!”

From friendly greetings to sweet dance moves, we hope our SWEET February #ConfettiMOOD brings some sweetness to your month!

SWEET Greetings 

Today’s the day to share the love, and if you haven’t already snagged these images from our Instagram or Facebook feeds, the time is now! Send one to your dance bestie or share them on your social pages with your studio. You can even print them out in color and hand them out in class for your dancers to write messages to their teachers and dance friends! You can also create a hashtag for your studio (we use #sharerhythmlove at our studio) to encourage dancers to share positive messages with each other. If you’re reading this after Valentine’s Day, save this post for next year or, even better, write down the idea in your spark*source!

SWEET Fashion Trends for Dance Teachers

We’re really crushing on the fact that fashion and dance are coming together this season is some amazing ways! The ongoing athleisure trends are bringing perfect style options for dance teachers who want fun, fashion and function all in one! Our fave current trends are fun sneakers, bright graphic tees and track pants! And speaking of track pants, have you seen the new Rag & Bone fall campaign featuring one of our favorite movers, Emma Portner? We are especially sweet on the red track pants she’s donning in this pic. The great thing about this trend is you can find options anywhere at all price ranges, from high-end boutiques to your favorite budget box store! While you’re checking those out, also check out the new @ragandbone short film featuring choreography by Benjamin Millepied (former NYC Ballet principal) and some super cool movement and dancers!

SWEET Ideas for Social Media Posts

There’s more to February than Valentine’s Day! Here are our top 4 ideas to keep your social media game on point this month beyond the 14th!

• February is Black History Month, so why not highlight some famous African-Americans who have impacted the dance world! Misty Copeland, Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Janet Jackson, Debbie Allen, Alvin Ailey…the list goes on and on! It’s a great way to educate your dancers on different styles and contributions made by each type of dancer.
• February 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day. Challenge your dancers to join in the spirit of the day and create your own hashtag to use when sharing.
• February 26 is Sylvie Guillem’s birthday! Use the day to educate your dancers about her and her dance life.
• Additionally, February 26 is also National Tell a Fairy Tale Day. For your preschoolers, pick a fairy tale and hold a themed class that day. Read a short version of the fairy tale, allow them to dress up for class, and build your class activities around the theme. We know from our Twirl Program that tiny dancers absolutely LOVE a theme day! Take lots of pics and use the hashtag #nationaltellafairytale day. You’re sure to have lots of cute ones that day!
