Word Up! 

Now that we have you singing, wave your hands in the air like you don’t care…it’s time to WORD UP! We created TWO super fun + totally free downloads filled with 80’s dance activities – one for Preschool dancers and one for Elementary age dancers. These free downloads will help reinforce dance terminology to your dancers as well as the steps that go along with the words. And of course, all while having a totally awesome + fun time dancing!

You can use these fun activities at your open house as free trial dance classes, offer them as a dance party for a mom’s morning out, or even host them as fun birthday party events. You can also use them in your weekly classes (but may need to simplify them a bit to fit it all into a standard 45-minute class).

To bring the activities to life, we’re sharing fun ideas that will involve a little bit of crafting to create a super 80’s WORD UP wall! We provide all the instructions and a supply list of everything you will need. The words (dance step terminology) you use on the wall will be a little different for preschoolers than for elementary dancers, but the backdrop and crafting of the wall is exactly the same for both! Preschool: Totally 80’s Word Up Obstacle Course (Tap)

This fun tap activity uses our Twirl Flashie Cards and Twirl Flashie Cards Bonus Pack to add a fun twist to learning the way the words look, sound and how to do the steps. Four fun stations on this 80’s obstacle course focus on different movements in an engaging way! This free download includes:

This totally tubular jazz activity uses our 567cre8 Cards – fun, creative movement inspiration cards that allow dancers to express themselves through creative prompts – and focuses on the terminology and execution of five specific jazz steps.
